狐 Kitsune Software

About

I'm a guy called Ben, I used to trade as Kitsune Software and I used to be based in the UK. For multiple political reasons (Brexit is one of them) I've moved out of the UK and am now settling into Berlin.

I've been coding in one form or another since I was 5 years old (the family had a Commodore 64; I transcribed programs from the instruction manual while learning to read), going from old-fashioned BASIC in the command-line days to C and REALbasic in the Mac-Classic era, then onwards to Java, Objective-C, Python, JavaScript and Swift in the modern age.

Before moving to Berlin, I spent most of 2018 being a full-time carer for a parent with Alzheimer's. I'm currently learning German seriously (and have attempted to learn Esperanto, Greek, Dutch, Spanish, and Arabic for fun), have worked my way through many of the Brilliant.org courses, am attempting to write a novel (over 100k words and I'm never happy with the climax no matter how I rewrite it), and worked through various online courses in multiple languages, including Python, c++, and of course Swift before LLMs made that kind of T-shaped skill-set redundant in favour of knowing what to ask the weird yet free (or at least too cheap to matter) AI intern to get best results.

My interests include artificial intelligence (even before it was cool), life-long learning, and trying things which other people claim to be impossible.
